In this episode of the We Choose Respect ParentCast we meet Nancy Virden, a suicide attempt survivor who is passionate about sharing hope with those in emotional pain. Diagnosed with Major Depression Recurrent in 2005, and closely related to people with the same disease, Nancy has been on two intense sides of the spectrum as the patient and as a key support. Her goal is, through the telling of her story, to encourage those who struggle with depression or despair, and to help supports be effective without becoming overwhelmed.
Nancy is also an author, a Mental Health and Recovery Advocate, and Founder of Always the Fight Ministries. She has shared her experiences and knowledge from the East Coast to Chicago, in interviews for
national and international publications, websites, radio, and podcasts, and via her books and Compassionate Love blog.
Nancy offers insights into major depression and recovery as only one who has been there can. Her books titled Called to Live: A Chronicle of Recovery After Attempted Suicide, and Always the Fight: A Living Testimony of What Only God Can Do, inspire readers to relate and find hope.
