Providing Parents With The Information & Tools They Need To Help Their Kids Grow To Be Happy, Healthy & Respectful

Feb 17, 2016

Mike Veny considers himself a combination of a hard worker, limit pusher, and straight up trouble maker.

He believes that growth in any area of your life begins a willingness to be intentionally uncomfortable. In order to transform the stigma surrounding mental health, he says you must choose to get uncomfortable.

He believes that the stigma surrounding mental health is a repeating cycle: Stigma begins with shame. Shame leads to silence. Silence leads to socially isolating behavior, self harm, and suicide.

Mike also believes that we can transform this into strength: In order to transform shame, you must take care of yourself. In order to transform silence, you must to keep the subject of mental health in everyday conversation. In order to transform socially isolating behavior, suicide, and self harm, you must constantly look for teachable moments in life.
