One of the things that people love most about my school assembly programs is that they are totally interactive. I love watching the faces of my volunteers light up as they cause something magical to happen in their own hands. I also know I will be far more effective in motivating kids to be respectful if they are a big, active part of the show.

This week my friend Holli Kenley and I are on a mission to transform my podcast into the Totally Interactive  We Choose Respect ParentCast!!! I am going to let Holli tell you in her own words, taken, with permission, directly from her blog. Click here to check out Holli's blog!!!

In this interview Melissa tells us how the teenage brain is different from a fully formed adult brain, explaining why teens often engage in risky behavior. You could call this episode of the ParentCast "Confessions of a thong selling writing teacher."

Chris Pilny is not a dad, he is not a doctor or the author of a book on parenting. He is not one of our usual guests here on the We Choose Respect ParentCast.

Chris is, as our proposed title suggests, a young man who left the rough and tumble world of selling thongs and other lacy under garments to teach inner city kids creative writing, and survived to talk about the experience!

This is a fun interview that will help you appreciate your kids' teachers and your kids' potential.

Dianna Beirne Amazon page says that "shelives in a fantasy world. Okay not really, but part of her wishes she did and, since that's technically impossible, she writes about fantasy worlds instead."

Diana's first Young Adult novel entitled Aurelious Forty; Volume One tells the story of a troubled teen who feels alone in the World. He has already bounced in and out of nine foster homes. When we meet him he is afraid and angry, and then discovers that he has a special gift.

In her interview Diana shares with us her inspiration in writing the story, and he belief that we all must do more to make everyone feel accepted and valued.

Aurelious Forty Volume One is the first in a series of Young Adult titles. Voumes Two and Three are available now, Voume Four will be published in the Fall.

Diana's Amazon page also tells us that "when not writing, she's generally daydreaming which morphs into wondering if that last daydream could turn into a book. She has also recently discovered podcasts but doesn't exactly understand what they are or why they're different from regular radio shows."

We don't know if appearing on the ParentCast has helped Diana understand that difference, but we do know you will love her interview.
